Find out why I have decided that I will be changing my pricing structure to include prints!
For the past few months, I have been feeling doubts about a few of my product and service offerings. The crazy thing is, I started feeling a need to change what I was offering my clients after welcoming Levi. I am witnessing this incredibly energetic little human growing before my very eyes. Meanwhile, all I have to show for the whirlwind that has been the last 8 months are hundreds of iPhone pictures. Well, iPhone pictures and a few prints in a baby book. I’m ready to change that! I’m changing that for myself and for my future clients. I am changing my pricing structure to include prints! If you haven’t noticed already, there are some changes on my session details page that reflect this change in my head and heart.
The other day, I went back on to my client gallery portal and I noticed a disturbingly similar pattern. A majority of my clients had not downloaded their galleries. I mean, I get it! In this day in age, we are all living through technology. We are sharing our pictures on Instagram or Facebook. Yet, that’s not where your memories are supposed to live! That’s not where your children or grandchildren will look back on one day to see pictures of you and your family.
I want you to hold your photographs! I want to help you create beautiful heirlooms that your family can hold and treasure for generations. Personally, I love looking back on old family Polaroids and wedding albums. They are some of my most treasured memories of the generation that came before me. That’s where the difference lies between this generation and the ones before us. They printed their pictures or captured memories with Polaroid cameras.
At the rate we are going with digital images, we are really feeding into Vint Cerf’s belief that we are the “forgotten century.” According to the Guardian, Vint Cerf, the Vice President of Google, stated that we are living in a time when we depend to heavily on digital files. He suggests that in order to avoid having our digital lives fade away, we need to make sure that the digital objects we create today can still be rendered far into the future.
“I truly believe that there’s is no work of art more beautiful to adorn the walls of your home than your family pictures.”
Having read that article, I had to put myself in my clients shoes. I know that we are all trying to rack up likes on social media for our pictures and posts. However, your photographs deserve more than living on your computer, the cloud, the internet, or a disc, etc. I think that our ability to take beautiful pictures with our handheld devices has also had a negative impact printing our pictures. The great thing is that there are companies out there that have caught on to this technological advancement and have created products for people who want to print their pictures. For instance, look at chatbooks!
The point I’m trying to make is that I want you to print your pictures! So much so that I am going to include print credit in my pricing structure. I truly believe that there’s is no work of art more beautiful to adorn the walls of your home than your family pictures. Therefore, I am going to do everything in my power to help you capture, print, and frame the beauty that is your family.
Thank you for stopping by the blog and allowing me to share a little of my heart with you!
