This summer, I had the honor of spending an evening with Andrea of Be Here and Serve in Erie, PA for a much needed catch up session as well as to capture her headshots. A few weeks before our session, Andrea shared with me that she was leaving the corporate world and taking her business full-time. So on this summer evening, Andrea and I discussed our business dreams and goals over a cup of hot tea, before heading over to Frontier Park for pictures. Andrea is now applying her corporate experience to help other businesses and business professionals by empowering them with inspiration to succeed.
From Andrea… “The day I connected my work with service was the best day of my life. It was the day my work was no longer about me, and it opened me up to seeing EVERYTHING in a different light. Even if you aren’t working, you are interfacing with someone who is – or their work – in almost every waking moment (and some sleeping – i.e., sheet manufacturers).
In December of 2013, I was talking with a good friend about this concept as she was dealing with feeling disconnected from her work. Her comments woke me up to the potential for my perspective on the challenges we face in pursuit of a fulfilling experience at work – hence the start of Be Here and Serve.
BHS started as a project to provide ongoing inspiration and tiny shifts in perspective, and has evolved to include workshops, speaking engagements, coaching, and workforce engagement projects with companies.
Today…20 months later…I’m taking this initiative to the next level. This is my first day out of corporate in over 17 years. If you want to catch up on what got me here, definitely head over to Be Here and Serve to check it out! I promise to keep you posted as this wild ride continues to unfold!!”
