This past weekend I met up with the Slokan family at their home in Erie, PA for a family session. It was an absolutely beautiful weekend for portraits, albeit with the constant threat of mist, wind, and chilly temperatures. Yet, the overcast skies provided the best opportunity to capture the wonderful fall colors in the middle of the day. Surprisingly, there were plenty of leaves on the trees and even more on the ground. Alexis certainly enjoyed running around and throwing the leaves up in the air, throughout our session.
This family is so very special to me. I have known them since Alexis was about 3 months and now she is 2 years young. We met when the family was looking for an occasional babysitter and I was transitioning out of a live-in nanny position. I was in my second semester of my MBA program and coincidentally, Dawn had graduated from the same program a few years before. So, I believe this family came into my life at just the right time. Over the two years, my passion for photography has grown and Dawn has been very supportive of my passion so much so that she has allowed Alexis to serve as my model on several occasions. I definitely have learned a thing or two about photographing children through the years thanks to A. While I love so many images I have captured of A, these family portraits are definitely my new favorites.
